It all started when our founder, Mr Avhijit Nair, was damn frustrated with his kitchen filling up with polythene bags after moving to Bangalore, India for his first ever job out of university in 2022.
He wanted to do something about this, but didn't really know what! But fortunately around this time he got the opportunity to be part of the first cohort of what would become a world class sustainability ffellowship called BeVisioneers, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz and organized by Do School, Germany.
It is here that he truly was able to dig deep into his mind to take a leap of faith to do something for his planet and to truly realize his forever dream of advancing humanity without harming environment.
Without any further ado, and with all the learnings and guidance from the fellowship, he officially kickstarted the project in March of 2024.
The initial few days were (and still to some extent 😅) were a struggle: - Not able to find a technical co-founder, not being able to secure finances etc... But that didn't deter him and he just kept working in the hopes of things working out one fine day
Then came a long-awaited win in the form of a 20k Euro project scholarship which helped him to cement the foundations for HydroPlas Tech. He was also able to onboard a research professor as his co-founder, find highly talented and humble teammates and everything got into action!
Now almost one year down the line and many struggles later we have been able to prove our hypothesis that we can indeed produce raw materials out of waste and create a more equitable and greener future!
Today we are incubated at one of India's top B-school, IIM Bangalore (NSRCEL Circular Economy program). We have also mastered producing Graphene from sorted waste. Next we are working on doing the same using mixed waste!
Stay tuned!
